Liability Coverage:
This insures you against injuries you cause to other people and damage you cause to other people’s property in an automobile accident. Liability claims for pain and suffering can be virtually limitless, so this is one area in which you definitely do not want to be underinsured. The Personal Auto Policy separates liability coverage into two parts: bodily injury and property damage coverage. Medical Payments:
Medical payments coverage pays for medical expenses resulting from an automobile accident up to a specified dollar amount. The purpose medical payments is to provide payment for immediate medical treatment for passengers of your car who are injured in an auto accident.
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists Coverage:
This provides coverage against bodily injury losses caused by someone who is completely uninsured or who has less than adequate insurance to cover the loss (underinsured motorists.) These limits are usually the same as your bodily injury limits.
Other Than Collision:
This protects your vehicle for physical damage to your vehicle caused by hail, fire, theft, flood, vandalism, windshield damage, animal collision. This portion of the policy has a deductible and is the insured’s responsibility before the company pays out anything. (generally, anywhere from $50 to $1,000.) The higher the deductible is, the lower the premium.
Collision:
This protects your vehicle for physical damage as a result of an accident. This portion of the policy also has a deductible and is the insured’s responsibility before the company pays out anything (generally, anywhere from $100 to $1,000.) The higher the deductible is, the lower the premium.

Policy Options
Towing and Labor:
This is an optional coverage and provides coverage for emergency road service and towing. Under this coverage, the insurer will pay towing and labor costs incurred each time your covered vehicle is disabled, up to the policy limit.
Transportation Expense/Rental Reimbursement:
This is an optional coverage that pays a set amount per day for transportation expenses (ie: rental car) if you car is being repaired because of an accident. The coverage is often limited and does have a maximum amount of coverage stated in the policy.
Loan/Lease Coverage:
This is an optional coverage which provides coverage for the difference between the outstanding indebtedness on a loan or lease agreement for a vehicle and the actual cash value of the vehicle. Typically, the endorsement needs to be added within 30 days of leasing or financing the vehicle.
Car Damage Replacement Coverage:
This is an optional coverage which will replace your vehicle of the same make, if possible; or similar vehicle size class and similar body type and equipment if the vehicle cannot be repaired at a reasonable cost. The endorsement must be added within 30 days of purchasing a new vehicle. A new vehicle is classified as a vehicle that has not previously been titled under the motor vehicle laws of any state.
